How do you sort search results?

Using the dropdown at the top right of the search results, you can sort the results by Relevancy Score, Investigation Number, and Start/End date.

Which fields are searched in Basic Search?

Basic Search queries eight general fields: Full title, Topic, Countries, Participants, HTS Numbers, Sub-Investigations, Investigation Number, Investigation Phase

How do you delete, add, or change search criteria after viewing results?

Click on the "Edit Search" button at the top or bottom of the search results. This will take you back to the Advanced Search page, but all your previous selections will remain intact. Here, you can delete (by clicking the trash can icon), add, or change your search.

How do I perform a Basic Search?

You may perform a basic search by entering search terms into the dialogue box in the middle of the IDS homepage or in the text field at the top of all other pages within the application.

Where can I find the definitions for the search terms?

By hovering over each of the search criteria in advanced search.

From Step 2 of the Advanced Search, hovering over a search term will reveal the term’s definition. Additionally, once you have pulled up the case page, you can see the definition by clicking on a term.

How do you select search criteria in Advanced Search?

By selecting from among the various criteria listed in the left-hand panel on the advanced search page.

In Step 2, you can select one topic or combine several to target the information you need. Many of the search criteria will allow the user to select from a drop-down list, a date, and some permit free text typing. Additionally, each criterion can be adjusted by the operator directly in front of the selection field for those criteria. For example, users could select investigations where the target date is blank, not blank, before a date, after a date, or between two dates.

How do you change the search operator within a search criterion?

Click on the operator and a dropdown menu of options will be presented from which to choose.

How do I view my Advanced Search results?

After entering your search criteria, you can see a list of search results by selecting the blue Show Results button at the top right or bottom right of the page. After that, you may click any highlighted Inv. Number or Title to see the full case page. Clicking the View Case button will show an overview of the following fields: Phases, Orders, Participants, Unfair Acts, Intellectual Property, and HTS Numbers.

How can I refine search results in the results page?

Use the available filters in the left-hand panel on the search results page.

Once a user has completed crafting the search criteria for the desired search, they should click Show Results. In the top left-hand corner, the number of results will be displayed as Showing page X of X pages. X matching results for your advanced search. The results may be sorted in several ways. To change the way the results are sorted, users should click on the “Sort by” drop-down and select the desired sort type.

What is on the search results page?

Basic identifying information common to investigations across mission areas.

From the search results page, you can see the Inv. Number, Topic, Title, Phase, and Relevancy Score as well as Start and End Dates for the investigation. If your search returned more than 25 results, you can scroll through the results in groups of 25 by clicking though the pages at the top of the screen. Additionally, you can use the dropdown to increase the results displayed on each page to up to 100.

Does Basic Search return results in just one mission area?

No. Searching from the dialog box will show results for all USITC cases/investigations.

How do I perform an Advanced Search?

Click on the Advanced Search button in the middle of the IDS homepage.

Under Step 1, click the dropdown menu and select the investigation type appropriate for the desired search. If you wish to search across all mission areas/investigation types, click “Select All”. Once an initial selection is made in Step 1, the page will automatically update to Step 2. On the left side of the page, you are presented with all the potential criteria from which you can craft your desired search.
