    Administrative Law Judges conduct the trial phase of Commission investigations under section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 (19 U.S.C. 1337). They rule on motions during the trial stage and, following the trial, make an initial determination as to whether a violation of section 337 exists.

    The USITC conducts investigations on matters involving international trade and industry competitiveness. These investigations often concern the likely impact of changes in trade policy such as trade agreements on the U.S. economy, industries, and workers or provide assessments of U.S. industries.

The USITC (Office of Tariff Affairs and Trade Agreements) is responsible for publishing the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States Annotated (HTSA). Calendar (USITC)

Starting August 1, 2024, all Commission votes will take place by notational voting. Notational voting is a process whereby the Commissioners receive written materials and provide their votes in writing. Commissioner votes will no longer be in-person.

Results of the vote will be posted in a bulletin at 11:30 am (day of the vote) on the Commission home page under “Latest Information.” The bulletin will be replaced by the news release approximately three hours after a Commission vote.

Other sources for information regarding the investigation, including vote results, are available on the Commission’s Investigations Database System (IDS) and Electronic Document Information System (EDIS).
