CERTAIN KITCHEN APPLIANCE SHELVING AND RACKS FROM CHINA INJURE U.S. INDUSTRY, SAYS USITC

The United States International Trade Commission (USITC or Commission) today determined that a U.S. industry is materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports of certain kitchen appliance shelving and racks from China that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are subsidized and sold in the United States at less than fair value.

The Commission found two domestic industries one producing refrigeration shelving and one producing oven racks. For refrigeration shelving, Chairman Shara L. Aranoff, Vice Chairman Daniel R. Pearson, and Commissioners Charlotte R. Lane, Irving A. Williamson, and Dean A. Pinkert found present material injury. For oven racks, Chairman Aranoff and Commissioners Lane, Williamson, and Pinkert found a threat of material injury, and Vice Chairman Pearson voted in the negative. Commissioner Deanna Tanner Okun did not participate in these investigations.

As a result of the Commission's affirmative determinations, the Department of Commerce will issue countervailing and antidumping duty orders on imports of these products from China.

The Commission's public report Certain Kitchen Appliance Shelving and Racks from China (Investigation Nos. 701-TA-458 and 731-TA-1154 (Final), USITC Publication 4098, August 2009) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the investigations.
